2012 ready for regulated Online Gambling?

2012 should be the year to set matters straight in the online gambling sector. Things have moved slowly but surely in the United States but there is still so much to do. As for Europe, it is being fast tracked as each and every country is making an effort to review its own gambling laws.

Starting with the United States, the Department of Justice has been quite unreliable with its interpretation of its online gambling legislation, which has thrown quite some discredit on this institution. So, unless the D.O.J decides to clear out his act, the online gambling issue might still vegetate.

As for the European Union, a lot has been done where countries want to regulate online gambling in their own waters, just like France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Denmark, The Netherlands, etc. However, as countries belonging to the European Union, there should be a common understanding in regards to the legislation of online gambling and this is where the block is.

Some nations understand that opening themselves to online gambling operators registered and licensed in one of the other E.U. jurisdictions will draw business and revenue in terms of taxation. There is an urgent need to have the European Union review its online gambling legislation as all the countries involved would have to be on the same level and wholly abide to the same laws in place.
