Changes in Online Gambling arena

Online Gambling has attracted scores of player over the yearsbecause of the ease at which players can play gambling games. Gamblers no longer need to go on land based casinos to play their favourite games when it is easier to find venues via laptops and smart phones.

The online gambling arena has spread with rapid progress using new technologies and has gathered a large amount of momentum. A recent research conducted by Ofcom showed that around 45% of the British population spend more of their waking time watching TV or on their communication devices. With online gambling becoming more and popular, both  online gambling sites and players seem to be happy.

However, the British Government is not that happy with the situation. With most of the online gambling services operating on licenses from outside the UK, they are losing out on their 15% tax. This is making them re think their stance around online gambling.  William Hill for instance, has recently acquired a Gibraltar License and thus saved more than 15 million in tax. Even then, the UK Government is not thinking of making any changes in the law concerning taxation.

Internet services and devices using these services are now available everywhere giving rise to the fear of irresponsible gambling. In an effort to counteract this , John Penrose, the Minister of Tourism and Heritage, stated that a license to operate in Britain will be made compulsory for online gambling organisations. This would be applicable to both overseas and UK based organisations. This is one change that online gaming players must look out for in the future.
