Early 2012 was the time Spain had chosen to implement its online gambling laws. However, they have now announced that they would postpone this project until the 30th of June 2012, in order to allow regulators more time to review license applications.

Spain had passed its new gaming laws in February 2011. There have been 61 operators who submitted applications before the December deadline. Operators include PokerStars, bwin.party, 888, Ladbrokes and Groupe Bernard Tapie, who had purchased Full Tilt Poker.

According to some reports last month, the Spanish online gambling market will be a huge success and will develop to a value of around 680 million euros by the the year 2015.

Gambling taxes in Spain have been set at 25 percent of gross revenue, which makes Spain a much attractive choice to online gambling operators than France. It is no wonder why so many applicants are trying to get into the Spanish online gambling industry.
